James studied lighting design at Rose Bruford College and has worked extensively with a number of dance and theatre companies.  His designs have been seen across the world in such places as Norway, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Brazil.

Alongside his lighting design work James is the Director of award winning ZOO Venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where he programmes a range of companies specialising in Dance and Physical Theatre.

James also guest lectures at a variety of universities and colleges across the UK.
